There’s been an increase in the number of families and single people in Kerry who’re homeless or at risk of homelessness.
That’s according to approved housing body NOVAS which provides accommodation and services in this county.
Úna Burns of NOVAS says in October (2025), there were 66 single people who were homeless in Kerry compared to 43 for the same month in 2024.
Ms Burns says there’s also been a rise for families with children in the south-west.
Úna Burns is head of advocacy and communications with NOVAS.
She says the statistics for those who are homeless in Kerry only relate to those who are seeking emergency accommodation.
Ms Burns says the figures don’t take into account the so-called hidden homeless which includes rough sleepers and sofa surfers.
