The aviation regulator has published a danger area notice for planes, ahead of a rocket launch in the US
The danger area notice will cover a small part of South Cork and a section of the Atlantic off Kerry, and will be in effect late tonight.
The commercial rocket from Amazon was due for launch a few weeks back but was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
Due to the size of the rocket, the tail end of the craft will be over South Cork and Kerry before it exits the atmosphere.
The Irish Aviation Authority has therefore issued a notice for commercial airlines to be aware of potential debris.
However at that point, any debris would be at three times the height of any commercial flight, and does not pose any significant threat.
Therefore, any debris at that point of the launch would technically be in space.
Kerry Airport says it's not affected by the planned rocket launch.
It says the launch is due to take place in the middle of the night when the airport is closed.
