HSE recorded 550 reports of elder abuse in Kerry and Cork last year

550 reports of elder abuse were recorded in Kerry and Cork last year.

That’s according to the HSE’s National Safeguarding Office Report 2021.

Of those, 218 reports of abuse were recorded in adults aged 80+.

Overall, more than 1,500 (1,583) reports of abuse were recorded in Kerry and Cork in 2021.

That’s an increase of 241 from the previous year; over 1,300 (1,342) reports of abuse were recorded in 2020.
