The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) is investigating an farm accident in which a North Kerry farmer was killed on Monday evening.
91-year-old Donal O'Connor from Tarbert Island and formerly of Ballylongford is believed to have been attacked by a cow at his farm at Morgan’s North, Askeaton (19/01/2026).
Gardaí and emergency services responded to the accident at approximately 6pm, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the local coroner was notified.

Mr O'Connor was a well known poet, historian, folklorist and raconteur.
