There’s been a 47% increase in the number of adults experiencing homelessness in Kerry in the last year.
The Department of Housing’s monthly homelessness report shows there were 71 adults in emergency accommodation in Kerry at the end of February.
This is a slight drop from last month, but marks a rise of almost 50% from the end of February last year.
In the south-west region, which covers Kerry and Cork, there were 128 families in emergency accommodation at the end of last month.
The Department’s data shows over 17,300 people were in emergency accommodation in Ireland at the end of February, which is another new record.
