HIQA publishes report into unannounced inspection of Killorglin residential centre

HIQA has published a report into an unannounced inspection of a full-time residential house in South Kerry.

Four people were living at St John of God Kerry Services’ Killorglin Residential Centre when the inspection took place in January (14 January 2025).

Inspector Robert Hennessy undertook the visit as part of the centre’s registration renewal, although it is planned to accept no new admissions to the centre.

He judged it against 17 different regulations, all of which were deemed compliant, bar two which were substantially compliant, or low risk issues.

Mr Hennessy found an overall review of policies was needed as some had not been reviewed in the previous three years, as is required by law.

The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) report concluded that the centre appears to have a positive impact on its residents and that they are achieving meaningful new personal goals with the help of the staff.
