High profile criminal solicitor Frank Buttimer has confirmed that he’s been asked to represent the man accused of murdering Kenmare farmer Mike Gaine.
The Cork solicitor will represent US citizen Michael Kelley when his case is due to make its first listing appearance at the Central Criminal Court next week.
The 54-year-old’s case is due for mention on June 22nd.
On May 27th, the American was sent forward for trial in the Central Criminal Court, accused of the murder of Mike Gaine.
Michael Kelley, who previously resided in Tralee, was sent forward for trial at a sitting of Tralee District Court.
He faces a single charge - that he murdered Mr Gaine on the 20th or 21st March 2025 at Carrig, Kenmare.
Kenmare farmer Mike Gaine was first reported missing from his home in March last year.
Thirteen months ago, remains found on his farm were confirmed to be his, ending over two months of speculation as to the whereabouts of the 56-year-old.
