A High Court challenge being taken by Kerry SF TD Pa Daly against the government’s appointment of Super Junior Ministers to Cabinet has been adjourned until later this month.
Deputy Daly said that it is a very important constitutional case, and it's expected that it will proceed to full hearing in early summer.
He has claimed that Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have increased the Cabinet to nineteen by the backdoor when the Constitution clearly states it can’t exceed fifteen.
Deputy Daly says that its clear that they are treated as full ministers of the government, with powers to bring forward proposals for decision.
He said that the intention is not about making government work better but is another part of what he described as the Governments grubby deal with Michael Lowry.
The next hearing will be on 28th April by the President of the High Court Justice David Barniville where its expected a fixed date to be set for the full hearing of the case.
