A bail application will be heard before the High Court for a North Kerry man accused of criminal damage and assault.
The update was provided by the man’s solicitor, Padraig O’Connell at Tralee District Court.
The 27-year-old, who can’t be named for legal reasons, faces four charges arising from an alleged domestic incident in North Kerry in April.
The man appeared via video-link before Judge David Waters at Tralee District Court.
He is charged with breach of a barring order, obstructing a garda, assault, and criminal damage to a garda car in North Kerry on 26th April.
The court previously heard the accused allegedly turned up at the house of his partner, in breach of a barring order she had obtained.
The man was allegedly aggressive and insulting towards her, and then was allegedly aggressive towards gardaí when they arrived at the scene.
He’s alleged to have headbutted the rear left window of the garda patrol car, smashing it, and then stumbling onto a garda, and injuring the garda in the process.
Sergeant Chris Manton told Judge David Waters that formal directions are awaited from the DPP in relation to the criminal damage charge.
The 27-year-old’s solicitor, Padraig O’Connell advised that a bail application for his client will be before the High Court next Thursday.
Judge Waters further remanded the man in custody to appear before Tralee District Court again on May 20th.
