Plans to develop a distillery in a former Killarney coach house have been given the go ahead by An Bord Pleanála.
Killarney Distillers Limited plan to conserve and refurbish a 19th century building close to Aghadoe House, a protected structure.
Developers Killarney Distillers Limited have been given the green light for this development at the woodland and former coach house, adjacent to Aghadoe House, Aghadoe, Killarney.
Their plans are for the conservation and refurbishment of the derelict 19th century coach house and adjoining courtyard, which are located close to Aghadoe House, which is a protected structure.
The developer says a craft distillery is to be sensitively incorporated into the 19th century coach house and courtyard, along with a reception, café, restaurant, shop and bar facilities.
This development was initially granted planning permission by Kerry County Council in January, but was appealed to An Bord Pleanála by the Lakes and Rivers of Kerry Salmon and Trout Conservation and Protection Association.
The appeals board has now granted permission stating it’s considered the development wouldn’t undermine the form and character of the woodland habitat and its setting, and would be in keeping with the Local Area Plan and the Kerry County Development Plan
