The Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council says North Kerry has become oversaturated with renewable energy developments.
Fine Gael councillor Michael Foley states he's not against renewable energy, but the volume of wind and solar farm projects in the area is excessive.
The Ballylongford native says locals have several concerns in relation to these developments, which need to be addressed.
Cllr Foley is urging the Government to publish guidelines on locations for renewable energy as soon as possible.
Since 2022, three applications for solar farms in North Kerry have gotten planning permission.
One application which received permission from Kerry County Council is being appealed; and there are three live applications for the development.
The combined size of all these applications total over 1,000 hectares.
Dr Paul Deane is a senior lecturer in clean energy futures at UCC.
He supports renewables, but believes to have so many projects concentrated in one area - will damage goodwill towards green energy.
