Glenbeigh/Glencar GAA Club has been refused planning permission for a café at the entrance to the club grounds.
The club applied for permission to construct a single-storey community space and café at the entrance to the pitch in Kilinabrack Lower, Glenbeigh.
Kerry County Council refused planning permission for two reasons.
The first is that the development would go against the zoning of the site, which is currently “Active Open Space”, on which café or restaurant developments are not normally permitted.
The council also said the development would endanger public safety as it would be a traffic hazard, because of its scale and distraction of drivers at a location where particular vigilance is required.
