Gardaí issued six fines during a targeted checkpoint in Tralee, which was carried out following complaints of dangerous driving.
The Kerry Roads Policing Unit held a checkpoint at the junction of St Brendan’s Road and Monavalley; this followed complaints made by locals stating motorists were running red lights there.
During the checkpoint, Gardaí issued three fines for breaking a red light and a further three fines for holding a mobile phone while driving.

One driver who was caught breaking a red light while on their mobile phone, told Gardaí they never saw the traffic lights.
