The Garda Representative Association is calling for legislation to be put in place and for strong punishments to be applied to people who target Gardaí online.
The association is hosting its annual conference in Westport.
Eddie Walsh, who is the Kerry GRA representative, says this practise of targeting Gardaí online is called doxxing.
In some cases the home addresses and personal details of Gardaí have been published online, and Mr Walsh says the GRA wants this to become a criminal act.
He confirmed that members in Kerry have also been the targets of doxxing:
