The funeral of former Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council Jim Finucane takes place today.
Mr Finucane was an elected politician for almost 30 years, serving as both Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council and Mayor of Tralee during his time.
Just last month, he was appointed honorary consul of Ukraine for the south west region.

As well as this, Mr Finucane was a former chairperson of Kerry ETB, and is credited as championing the rebranding of Tralee and Kerry as leading tourism destinations.
The Requiem Mass for Jim Finucane will be celebrated at 12 noon in St John's Church, Tralee, followed by a private cremation.
