A group of Michael Gaine’s friends have restored his former rally car to lead Mike’s funeral procession and final journey.
His close friend, Brian Hickey, says over 20 people involved with Killarney Motor and District Club worked on the Ford Escort Mark II (2) rally car.
He says Mike last rallied in the vehicle 15 years ago, and it’ll take Mike’s ashes on one last lap of Kenmare to his home.

Mr Hickey says the idea took inspiration from a Whatsapp group they formed called “Mike’s last journey”, and it’s a fitting way to honour Michael Gaine:
