Five-year-old boy in serious condition following fire pit blaze in Killarney

A five-year-old boy is in a serious condition in hospital after suffering serious burns in a fire pit blaze in Killarney.

He is currently being treated at the Children's Health Ireland (CHI) hospital in Crumlin.

Six people including men, women and children were taken to hospital for injuries sustained during the incident on Saturday.

Among those injured are the boy's mother and aunt.

Emergency services attended the fire at a home on the Loreto Convent Estate at approximately 10:20 on Saturday night.

An Garda Síochána say a technical examination of the scene has been conducted and investigations are ongoing.
