Kerry County Council (KCC) has received five applications from developers offering to partake in affordable housing pilot projects in Tralee and Killarney.
Developers had until last Friday, (13th February) to make their interest known.
Councillors were told, at this week’s full council meeting, that three applications were received for the Killarney area, and two more for the Tralee area.
The council’s director of housing, Niamh O'Sullivan, said that the finer details of the applications had not yet been established, but that many proposals were only at the planning or pre-planning stage.
She said that some developers had also contacted the council about turn-key ready properties.
Following the assessment process, draft agreements with the preferred applicants will be drawn up.
These draft agreements will then be sent to the Department of Housing and Local Government for approval in order to access the Affordable Housing Fund.
Ms O’Sullivan said as soon as approval is granted, the process of advertising the properties will begin.
