The Department of Agriculture will begin issuing the first tranche of payments totalling almost €33 million euro (€32,999,724.93) to farmers in Kerry tomorrow.
The advance payments are part of the 2025 BISS and CRISS schemes.
The news has been welcomed by Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Michael Cahill and Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly.
The Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) scheme is the main EU support for farmers, which replaced the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) in 2023.
The Complementary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability or CRISS scheme redistributes the EU's Common Agricultural Policy funds from larger to smaller farms.
Between the two schemes, over 6,800 (6,809) farmers in Kerry will receive payments of over 32.9 million euro.
Nationally, over 510 million euro in payments will be distributed to almost 110,500 farmers.
The advance payments, commencing tomorrow (16th October 2025), represent 70% of the total BISS and CRISS supports.
