Fine Gael is opening nominations today for candidates who want to become the next president.
There has been growing speculation that among the party contenders for the race to the Áras, is Kerry native, Seán Kelly.
The Fine Gael MEP for Ireland South met last month with Tánaiste Simon Harris, and the party executive to discuss the campaign.
The next presidential election must take place in the 60 days before President Michael D. Higgin's term ends on 11 November.
Meanwhile, Broadcaster Joe Duffy is the latest to rule himself out, after confirming over the weekend he wouldn't be running in the Presidential election.
