New rental laws may lead to less landlords on the market.
That's according to a committee member of the Irish Property Owners Associations, who has expressed confusion at some of the new laws due to come in on March 1st.
There have been calls for a review of landlord-tenancy agreements in the county following the eviction of 34 people from 14 houses in the Loreto Chapel Estate.
Maurice Deverell of Irish Property Owners Associations the feels that the introduction of a public register of rents charged is unnecessary, considering that the RTB already has this information for every property.
He feels that both landlords and tenants will no like their personal details being publicly available online.
The law also calls for the publishing of the prices of previous tenancies online.
Currently, rent prices must be no more than 2% higher than those paid by the previous tenant.
Mr Deverell has also expressed confusion at the timing of the new laws, as current rent increase caps will be negated by March 2026:
