Expressions of interest are being sought from those who’d like to operate saunas on some of Kerry’s Blue Flag Beaches.
On Monday, Kerry County Councillors voted to adopt amendments to the beach bye-laws to allow saunas to operate on selected Blue Flag beaches.
Director of Services at Kerry County Council, Paul Neary says these changes is part of expanding the experience of beach-goers and to offer further services.
It’s hoped that permits will be issued by early June and the saunas will be provided for this summer season.
Expressions of interest must be completed before 5pm next Tuesday (May 26th).
Mr Neary says the intention isn’t to over-regulate but to ensure these saunas are operating in a safe way that abides by Blue Flag regulations:
Saunas will operate at the following beaches:
- Ballyheigue
- Banna
- Kells
- Trá Baile an Sceilg
- Fenit
- White Strand (Cahersiveen)
- Ballybunion South
- Inch
- Fionn Trá
- Maharabeg
- Rossbeigh
