Dublin Rose says racist comments targeted at her are not view of majority of Irish people

The Dublin Rose says she knows racist comments targeted at her are not the view of the majority of Irish people.

Since she was selected as the Dublin Rose for this year Suad Mooge has been the target of racist abuse online.

Her parents are from Somalia, however, Suad was born and raised in Ireland.

Suad, who is a medical scientist at a hospital in Dublin, says these comments have been tough to deal with but she has a great support system around her.

She says she’s looking forward to visiting Tralee for the Rose of Tralee International Festival this August.

Suad Mooge says some people have a narrow-minded view of what it means to be Irish, but that isn’t the view of the majority:
