A Dingle man has been given an 18 month suspended sentence for possessing child pornography.
John McIntyre of 67 The Grove, Dingle pleaded guilty to the offence at Tralee Circuit Court.
The International Centre of Missing and Exploited Children notified An Garda Síochána of suspicious online activity, who then tracked it to Mr McIntyre's devices.
The 63-year-old appeared before Judge Alec Gabbett, who summarised the case against Mr McIntyre before passing sentence.
Four videos classified as Category One child sexual abuse material (CSAM), seven images classed Category Two, and one Category Three anime-style cartoon image were found on two phones.
The victims in the images were boys and girls between three and nine years of age.
Judge Alec Gabbett said that child sex abuse material "causes huge harm to the children in the images".
He also listed several mitigating circumstances, including that Mr Mcintyre immediatly cooperated with Gardaí; came to the Gardaí by appointment; provided passwords to his phones and online accounts.
He also said Mc McIntyre had shown remorse and shame, had not shared the material further, had an unusually low number of images on his devices, and that a psychotherapist's assessment deemed him to be at a low risk of reoffending.
Judge Gabbett said that Mr McIntyre has not reoffended since and that he did not think imprisonment was needed to deter him further.
Mr McIntyre was sentenced to eighteen months in prison, full suspended for three years.
He must also attend counselling at least once every six months for the period of the suspension
Mr McIntyre was added to the Sex Offenders Register when he originally pleaded guilty last year.
