The Rose Hotel, Tralee has announced the death of its owner, Dick Henggeler.
The hotel says Mr Henggeler died peacefully at his home in the United States surrounded by family.
He was a successful businessman in the US, who ran a computer consultancy, before selling it 14 years.
Dick Henggeler and his wife Eibhlín, who’s from Killarney, bought the hotel 10 years ago as a tribute to their late daughter Dorothy – known as Dott - who represented Washington DC in the 2011 Rose of Tralee International Festival.
The venue was rebranded as The Rose Hotel a year later.
A statement from The Rose Hotel described Dick Henggeler as forward-thinking, ambitious, and deeply courteous.
The statement said Mr Henggeler had a genuine passion for Tralee and encouraged The Rose Hotel to be actively involved in all matters that supported the town.
Dick Henggeler is survived by Eibhlín, his son Franz, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughters, Dott and Treasa.
