Jesse Gilbert will return as the Creative Ireland filmmaker-in-residence for Kerry this year.
The residency enables Mr. Gilbert to run workshops, masterclasses, and one-to-one sessions, to share his filmmaking skills and encourage creativity in the community.
These include county-wide introductory workshops for transition year students.
The focus on film arose from a public consultation in 2023/’24, when young people showed strong interest in filmmaking.
Those interested in more information, working with the filmmaker-in-residence, or registering for transition year workshops or ongoing workshops and clinics, are advised to register early due to high demand.

SONAR is free to join for those under 18.
Furthermore, Mr. Gilbert’s work will also focus on helping young filmmakers build long-term careers.

Jesse Gilbert said, "I look forward to working with individuals and groups, to share knowledge on the making of and joy of creating films."
Arts Officer & Creative Ireland Coordinator, Kate Kennelly, stated, "This programme is a key element of our Creative Ireland Kerry delivery. … During the residency, the artist helps people on several levels by offering mentoring to peers, by giving classes to beginners, and by encouraging standards of practice across all ages."
