Kerry County Council has secured funding for a project that aims to re-establish Listowel as the key economic driver for the North Kerry area.
The project, titled ‘Listowel: Where Stories Begin’, consists of two transformational projects with the intention to diversity the economy of the town, and is funded
under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.
The first is focused on the re-establishing of the Town Square as the Cultural and Economic Heart of Listowel. The project will focus on creating an attractive urban landscape, including enhancements to the outdoor performance, events, meeting, and dining spaces in the Square.
The second project aims to position Listowel as a hub for Activity Tourism in North Kerry.The primary aim of this project is to identify actions, build network of experiences, support tourism development, strengthen the local economy and community in the Listowel urban area through the provision of an Outdoor Activity Hub
These projects are currently in their preliminary stages, and Kerry County Council is asking members of the public to participate in surveys to help shape the direction of both projects. The surveys are to be completed by June 9th.
