Kerry county councillors will this afternoon decide the rate of Local Property Tax in the county for next year.
A council meeting to determine the local adjustment factor for property tax is to be held in CBS The Green, Tralee, at 2pm this afternoon.
Under legislation, councillors have the power annually to vary the base Local Property Tax rate for the following year by +/-15% or leave the rate unchanged.
Local Property Tax in Kerry this year is 7.5% above the base rate, as decided by councillors last year.
At a pre-budget meeting last week, CEO of Kerry County Council, Moira Murrell, asked councillors to consider increasing that to the maximum 15% above the base rate for next year.
This would represent an increase of 7.5% on this year's rate of Local Property Tax.
Ms Murrell said this would also represent an increase of €2.1 million on income for Kerry County Council.
Some councillors have expressed opposition to this, and they will have the final say on the rate when they vote in Tralee this afternoon.
