An independent councillor has called for a pedestrian crossing in Glenbeigh village.
Councillor Podge Foley told Kerry County Council management that there is no official crossing in the village, despite it being ‘much-needed’ especially during summer.
Fianna Fáil councillor Tommy Cahill also spoke on the need for measures to reduce the speed of traffic through Glenbeigh village.
These improvements are the responsibility of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) because the village's main street forms part of the N70 Ring of Kerry.
In reply, Kenmare Municipal District management advised that surveys have been carried out on the traffic calming requirements in Glenbeigh and preliminary proposals have been drawn up, but they await funding availability.
