Transport Infrastructure Ireland needs to review its guidelines around noise and vibrations, as residents near the Listowel bypass have experienced increased levels of both.
That’s according to Fianna Fáil councillor Jimmy Moloney, who was speaking at the recent meeting of Listowel Municipal District.
He tabled a motion requesting an upgrade to the windows to properties in John B Keane Grove, which he says are affected by the increased traffic.
The council advised it has inspected homes under its ownership in the area; and those with aged or single glazed windows will be replaced, subject to funding.
Kerry County Council added that noise impacts were previously assessed in the area and no noise mitigation was specified.
Cllr Moloney stated he couldn't accept this, adding traffic has risen threefold, and TII needs to review its guidelines as residents are affected by the noise.
The motion was seconded by Sinn Féin councillor Tom Barry.
