A councillor has urged that a former primary school in Ballymacelligott be made available to local community groups in the future.
Fianna Fáil councillor Fionnán Fitzgerald tabled the motion at the recent Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne MD meeting.
He asked that the council write to the owners of Flemby National School, seeking to preserve it as a community hub.
The school closed its doors for the final time last June and Cllr Fitzgerald says it would be a fright to let the building go to waste.
He believes a community hub, similar to that at the former primary school in Tureencahill, would greatly benefit the locality.
