Councillor condemns 'scourge' of vulture funds as 34 face mass eviction in Killarney

A Kerry Independent Alliance councillor has spoken of the 'scourge' of so-called vulture funds in Ireland.

Killarney councillor John O'Donoghue was reacting to the news that 34 people, including 15 children, are being evicted from their rental homes in the Loreto Chapel estate.

Councillor O'Donoghue says the practice of allowing single entities or individuals bulk buy huge swathes of our housing stock should be outlawed.

He also stated that "My heart goes out to those families in Loreto … who are now facing the brunt of this shortsighted policy".
