A Kerry councillor has aired his frustration at the Housing Minister over Uisce Éireann’s management of wastewater management systems in the county.
Cllr Fionnán Fitzgerald was responding to correspondence received from Minister James Browne’s office to concerns he raised.
Members of the Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne MD wrote to the Minister seeking for Uisce Éireann to actively maintain wastewater systems in Kerry.
The Fianna Fáil councillor slammed the utility over not standing up to the plate to manage and maintain several sites, including at Lakeview Estate in Currow; and more needs to be done.
The Department stated that this is a matter for Uisce Éireann and is approved through its own board and internal governance structures.
Speaking at the meeting, Cllr Fitzgerald said he was extremely disappointed with the Minister’s response.
