Kerry County Council has said it will actively try and connect the village of Ardfert with the proposed Tralee to Listowel greenway.
The greenway is expected to be up to 30km in length, connecting the Tralee to Fenit Greenway, and the North Kerry Greenway which runs from Listowel to Abbeyfeale.
The exact route has not yet been decided after three rounds of public consultation, the last of which just finished at the end of August.
At the recent Tralee MD meeting, Cllr Deirdre Ferris asked that the council work with the greenways team to find a connection point from Ardfert village to the greenway at Tubrid.
The council confirmed that the Tralee MD office will work with the greenways team to identify a suitable connection point from Ardfert village to the proposed greenway.
