Kerry County Council is seeking to regularise application of the parking bye-laws in Killarney.
The information was provided at the recent MD meeting in response to a motion from independent councillor, Martin Grady.
He urged the council to review the bye-laws, and asked that resident permits would be issued to the car park closest to that address.
Fianna Fáil councillor, Niall Kelleher seconded the motion, adding it was raised four years ago that people who weren’t residents were getting these permits.
In response the council said this was subject of separate correspondence with the office of the ombudsman; and it will look at the existing bye-laws.
