Kerry County Council has been urged to install commemorative manhole covers in West Kerry.
Fianna Fáil councillor Breandán Fitzgerald made the plea at a recent meeting of the Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District.
The manhole covers were designed and installed by local authorities to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising.
Cllr Breandán Fitzgerald believes the designs should still be used.
In response, Kerry County Council said these manhole covers were a once off initiative.
It says historic covers would have to be specially commissioned, designed and manufactured for any future project.
The council noted commemorative manhole covers would be cost prohibitive unless specific funding was made available.
