Kerry County Council is to assess how to improve traffic in Beaufort village.
The matter was raised at a recent Kenmare Municipal District meeting by Fianna Fáil councillor Tommy Cahill.
He called for a new traffic management plan covering the area from the Beaufort Bar to beyond the community centre.
Council management heard the road is very dangerous for families and children, with cars often speeding regardless of the limit.
It said the area urgently needs pedestrian crossings, public lighting, and footpaths.
Council management agreed to assess if Beaufort is suitable for the Department of Rural and Community Development’s Town and Village Renewal Scheme; however, they will first need to engage with local landowners.
