Council says its staff active in relation to monitoring public spaces

Kerry County Council says its staff have been active in recent weeks in relation to monitoring public spaces.

It was responding to a query from Radio Kerry, after gardaí had said management of local public spaces is primarily a matter for local authorities.

Kerry County Council says enforcement staff across the five municipal districts are playing a role in monitoring public spaces, including beaches and parks, over the summer months.

Its staff liaise with An Garda Síochána where necessary to ensure compliance with public health guidelines and to address any issues which might arise.

The local authority is encouraging everyone to comply with the advice and guidelines in the interests of public health and limiting the spread of the coronavirus.
