Kerry County Council has granted planning permission for a €10 million housing development in Tralee.
The mix of houses and apartments will be located on a disused mobile home and caravan park in Killeen, on the road out of Tralee towards Listellick.
The council previously refused permission for the same development as the lands were not zoned at that stage.
Last year, Rodcliff Construction Ltd was refused planning permission for the 46-unit development at Killeen.
Among the reasons cited for planning refusal, was the proposed development was located in unzoned land outside the Tralee town boundary.
Under the new Tralee Municipal District Settlements Plan adopted by the council last August, the site was zoned residential.
The company applied again for planning last September, and has now been granted permission for the development.
It will involve demolishing the existing caravan park facilities on site, creating a new entrance off the R556 Tralee to Ballybunion road, and change of use to residential.
There will be 19 three-bed houses, six semi-detached houses of three and four beds, and five apartment buildings each containing four apartments.
The site is a short distance down from the roundabout on the first part of the newly-constructed Tralee Northern Relief Road.
The council granted permission subject to 23 conditions.
Among these, the developer must pay €90,000 to the council towards the cost of providing a footpath into town from the site for pedestrians.
