Kerry County Council has appointed a consultant to investigate flooding issues at a Castleisland cemetery.
The information was provided at the recent Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne MD meeting, in response to a motion by Cllr Charlie Farrelly.
The independent councillor sought an update on further investigations into flooding at Kilbannivane graveyard, which he said was promised over two years ago.
A deputation previously told the council that flooding in the burial ground has been occurring for over thirty years and causes great distress to locals, especially those with loved ones laid to rest in the cemetery.
The council advised that the investigation into the issue is at initial stages and members will be updated in due course.
