Congressman Richard Neal has been honoured by Kerry County Council, with a civic reception at a ceremony held at Muckross House in Killarney.
Congressman Neal, a member of the Democratic Party serving the 1st District of Massachusetts in the US House of Representatives, has ancestral ties to Ventry in west Kerry.
He was presented with a framed scroll and a Dingle Crystal vase by Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Breandán Fitzgerald.
The civic reception was bestowed on Congressman Neal in recognition of his contribution to the peace process in Northern Ireland and his enduring and unique relationship with the people of Kerry.
He will attend and speak at the Global Economic Summit taking place at the Europe Hotel in Killarney, starting today and continuing to Wednesday.
