The confirmation of a new oncology unit at UHK is a huge day for cancer services in Kerry.
That’s according to Fianna Fáil councillor Mikey Sheehy, who raised the motion at the recent HSE South West Forum.
The HSE says that the project remains within the National Capital Programme, while a development control plan to determine how best to integrate the facility is ongoing.
Cllr Sheehy states the new 96-bed block Oncology Unit will be located on a ground floor space at University Hospital Kerry campus.
He says the delivery plan for the facility will be confirmed by the end of the second quarter of this year.
Cllr Sheehy describes the new Oncology Unit at UHK as a major breakthrough.
