The conference for the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) begins in Killarney today.
The annual event is due to get underway in the INEC this afternoon.
The three day event will be opened by INTO President, Anne Horan, and is set to include addresses from Education Minister Hildegaarde Naughton and former President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.
Teachers’ pay, workload pressures and class sizes are expected to dominate the discussions.
Children’s Minister and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Norma Foley is expected to face criticism over waiting lists for special needs assessment.
INTO General Secretary John Boyle says the delays are impacting access to vital classroom supports:
