People on the Iveragh Peninsula are furious after a failure to resume boat trips to land at Skellig Michael at the weekend, due to an apparent shortage of tour guides.
The Office of Public Works announced that landings would begin last Saturday, following Thursday's High Court ruling that boat trips to land at Sceilg Mhichíl could resume.
However, this has since been delayed and the UNESCO World Heritage Site is now due to reopen for landings tomorrow.
Landing permits were automatically suspended when unsuccessful bidders brought a High Court challenge to the decision; the OPW applied to the court asking for that stay to be lifted.
Fianna Fáil councillor Norma Moriarty is critical of OPW senior management for their handling of the situation; she says lessons must be learned from this.
Cllr Moriarty says this delay resulted in further cancellations and it caused anger locally:
