The Kerry Mental Health Association has presented a much needed bus to a mental health day centre in Killorglin.
The aim of the new bus is to increase social networking and improve access to mental health appointments for service users of the Ard Álainn Mental Health Day Centre, in Ardmoniel, Killorglin.
Funds from the bus were raised over multiple events by various donors, the largest of which was the SMBC Global Foundation, part of JRIA which operates out of to Kerry technology Park.
The General Manager of Kerry Mental Health Association, John Drummey, thanked all who contributed to the fundraising efforts for the bus throughout 2025.
This included former All-Ireland winning Kerry Captain, Liam Hassett, who ran in the Dublin City Marathon and raised over €9,000 for the project.
The teachers and staff at Intermediate School Killorglin donated €1300 raised from their bake sale and crazy hair day. A Teddy Bears Picnic, organised by MTU student Caitlin Reitveld, brought raised around €900 towards the bus.
As well as this, Tralee Rotary Club donated €1000 from a choral recital last March, along with €10,000 raised through Spinathons last May and August.
Kerry Mental Health Association is inviting prospective volunteers to help with other fundraising collections in 2026.
