It's claimed water supply in parts of Kerry are so bad that families can hardly wash a baby's bottle.

Labour councillor Marie Moloney made the claim at the recent Killarney Municipal District meeting, after Cathaoirleach Brendan Cronin brought a motion on water outages in Listry, Beaufort and Faha.

Councillor Moloney says the water supply is intermittent in these areas and, even when supply returns, the water is often so bad it can't be used.

She says people can't guarantee that when they turn on the taps good water will come out.

Council engineer Colm Mangan says the supply should improve considerably in Beaufort later this summer, with the planned completion of 1.2km of water main works.
