An independent councillor says families in Kerry are faced with choosing between eating or heating due to spiralling costs.

Cllr Charlie Farrelly is urging the government to address excise duty on home heating oil.

He believes the fuel support package did nothing to aid households facing the cost-of-living crisis.

Kerry County Councillors unanimously supported his motion to write to government calling for action.

Cllr Farrelly says the price of home heating oil has more than doubled since January, and families are struggling.
