Plans are in the works to hold a civic reception for Golden Globe winner Jessie Buckely in her native Killarney.

The 36 year-old actress is tipped to be the first Irish woman to win an Oscar since Brenda Fricker for her role in Hamnet.

She has already been named best actress at this year's Critics Choice and Golden Globe awards, often seen as precursers to Oscars' success

The Irish Mail on Sunday has reported that a civic ceremony to honour her achievements will be taking place in the coming months.

Killarney MD Councillor Marie Moloney suggested the reception, saying it would be a fitting way to honour Jessie's immense achievements:

This will be the second civic reception held in the town for the actress, the first being in 2008 following her runner-up performance on talent show "I'll Do Anything"
