The new state-led childcare centres will prioritise providing places for one to three-year-olds in disadvantaged and rural areas.
With a budget of 135 million euro, the government will immediately begin purchasing and renovating eight buildings into state-led early learning centres.
Each building will provide about 100 new childcare places.
