The newly formed Kerry Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) has appointed its chairperson.
The group replaces Joint Policing Committees which were dissolved last year.
It aims to prioritise the voice of local people in identifying and addressing community safety issues.
The LCSP is a collaboration between Kerry County Council, Gardaí, community and resident representatives, business and education reps, and state agencies including the HSE and Túsla.
At its inaugural meeting at Tralee Bay Wetlands, Cllr Niall Kelleher was elected chair, while Derry Ó’ Murchú was elected as vice-chairperson.
Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan says the formation of Kerry LCSP marks a significant step and his department will be on-hand to support its work.
